Asthma and Chiropractic Care
December 2, 2015 By Patrick Keiran, DC
During the breathing process, signals in the nervous system travel from our brain to the body. By balancing the brain, patients can experience relief of their breathing-related symptoms.
In a study of eight pediatic patients with asthma that received chiropractic care, seven of the eight patients who completed the study were able to reduce/discontinue medication. The children used for this study had never received any chiropractic care to participation in this study. All participants showed measurable improvement on radiographs, which correlated with an improvement in asthma symptoms in seven of the eight cases. This paper also includes an interesting discussion on the innervation of the lungs and its relationship to the vertebral subluxation complex.
